The genre is an American based action film directed by Joe Cornakan. The film follows Hannibal (Liam Henson), Face (Bradley Cooper), Mordock (Sharlto Copley) and B.A. Baracus (Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson). They have been set up by an Agent lynch (Patrick Wilson), The team of four have try and clear their or face life in jail. I am going to look at the scene from 54:36-60:00, and I will be analysing the editing techniques you would find in the action genre, which are manly cuts which fit we'll with the conventions like a chase scene or works well with the simple plot which the cuts help by not over complicating it. The editors of the film are Roger Barlon and Jim may. They have the most important job they take the raw footage and put it in place so the story line makes senesce to the audience. It can also effect the audiences emotion to the story line. The editors haver kept the conventions traditional to the action genre, keeping it simple and not playing around by doing anything that isn't a conventions. The first piece of action editing is when the four main characters are in a carrier plane, being chased by two reapers (unmanned aircraft). The reapers fire missiles at the large aircraft, this then cuts into a reaction shot of the pilot which is Mordock. This is very commonly used in the action genre. The cut is almost the the only editing techniques used in the action genre. However if the action genre just used cuts then they have to mean something, like for instance the cut is used so the audience can get a quick way to see how the pilots reactions which is a surprisingly calm reaction. This is common for Mordock as he is a danger addict. This is good editing if the editors use a fade the the whole effect and meaning to the shot will have no reaction from the audience. This is why the cut in the action genre are so commonly used, so the audience can feel the reactions of the actors. This ties in well with the next shot which are cuts between the missiles hitting the plane to the control bass of the reapers, this is in parallel showing the reactions of two groups of actors. these are rapid cuts, this is creating a sense of panic in the audience, thus making the audience more connected to the film. This is commonly used in most film genre you can see them mostly in action and horror film. however it also brings characters reactions into play but the audience will only have a few seconds to relies what reaction it is this is due to the rapid changes due to short duration of shots. This is all thanks to the rapid cut between the plane and the control base. Another interesting shot is of Hannibal being higher then the rest of the group. the audience will see this as Hannibal being the leader of the group; the higher the person the higher their states is. This is all thanks to how the editors placed the shots. They want the audience to know he has higher states then the rest of the group, so that the audience relies that he is the one that tells them what to do. There are also use blue filter this is to creat the sense of day. The clip is set in the day so the editors wanted the audience to know what time it is. However this also is shown inside the plane this could be for many reasons. One is the glass has a blue tint so that the pilot doesn't gets blinded from the sun, or the editors put it there to symbolise whats going to happen like exploding and falling down into the sea. So editing is used successfully in this clip, making the clip run smoothly and continuously with it being linear , Roger Barlon and Jim may have done a great job to keep the conventions of the action genre traditional

the mis en scence in 2012 is some of the best which you would link to the disaster genre. the still frame shows manly costums and some controlled explostions (Pyrottechtics) in the back ground. the plane is there with one of the main characters running for it before it takes off. the costum he is wearing is a suit nening he could of been at wrk when this started to heppen and with it looking all durty it must happend awile ago the rocks on the ground symbolise the frce showing it is so big the froce can thouw rocks all over the place.

the use of sound is easy in this clip use a character theme though out the trailere. Character themes are normaly used for when a (normaly) villan comes to play but they are also used commenly in super hero movies to the sound creats tention as it speeds up when jaws is just about to attack. this creates a relationship to the character to the audience, meaning when the sound is played ther know who it is concted to on this case it is jaws.

August Rush review

You can’t get any better than this film when it comes to sound. August rush is about an orphan boy that is trying to reach out to his parents with the power of music. The sound track is fantastic. The film try’s to tell us that music is more than just music it’s a powerful tool too. Kirsten Sheridan has done a great job in showing us this; she does this with a lot of diegetic sound that can only be heard by Evan Taylor ‘August Rush' (Freddie Highmore ) so most people would debate that its Non-diegetic sound. The sound track is up for sale bringing in more money to the $31,655,091 (USA) they already have. Some well-known actors are also shown like Robin Williams (known for; Night at the Museum 1&2 and Happy feet 1&2), Freddie Highmore (known for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Spiderwick Chronicles) and Terrence Howard (known for Iron Man and The Ledge) with all these famous actors the film was going to be a big hit mostly in the USA as most of them are American. TH Director has done an excellent job on reaching out to the audience using the power of music on what some would say on a low budget compared to the high budget big film get today with only $30,000,000 to play with, and she has done a great job with it. The film is based in New York where there a big lights and the theme of great things always happen there. I don’t normally watch films more than once but this film I’ve seen more than 10 times this is what the film does to the audience it draws them in to keep on seeing the film though the power of love and music.
